Classroom Policies
The following policies are in effect for my classroom:
- Follow Horlick's Student Code of Conduct.
- Students will be considered "tardy" if they are not in their assigned seat when the class bell rings.
- Students are required to bring notebooks and something to write with every day.
- Students are required to bring textbooks each day it is required.
- Failure to bring necessary materials will result in a classroom detention.
- Students are not allowed to leave the classroom without a valid pass and student ID.
- Cell phone and music players are not allowed at anytime. Devices will be confiscated and given to the main office.
- If I ask a student to leave the classroom, I expect s/he will immediately report to his or her subschool.
- I will not issue study hall passes to the library or computer lab unless I know you have work to do for my class.
I will respect students so long as they respect their fellow classmates, the material, and me.
Classroom Detentions
If it becomes necessary, I will issue a classroom detention. This is a disciplinary measure between the student and the classroom that does not involve school administration. A classroom detention must be served on or the day after it is issued hours and will be for ten-minutes after school. If students fail to serve the assigned classroom detention, the time will double to twenty-minutes and must be served the following day. After the second chance, a blue-slip will be sent to the appropriate sub-school office and the student will not be allowed back to class until it is resolved.
Other Considerations
It is impossible to consider every action and consequence that might occur in the classroom; therefore, be aware that sometimes the same action may initiate different consequences depending on the circumstance. These consequences may range from a blue-slip, to recommendation for removal from the class, to a simple warning and one-on-one chat with me... and anywhere in-between.
If we all exercise common-sense and maturity, we'll all get along just fine.
